Islands Villa Lewisporte Newfoundland

Owners, Gerald and Greg Feltham(Paula), along with our very friendly staff, take great pleasure in welcoming you to Islands’ Villa!

Each suite of Islands’ Villa celebrates one of a collection of islands, found in the vast surrounds of Notre Dame Bay.

Depending on which suite you choose, a little of the Islands’ history has been carefully prepared, to enlighten our guests. We would like to thank Mr. Cliff Lilly, a former resident of Exploits, for his contribution to the Islands’ history and maps.

The late Beverley Feltham (Gerald’s wife, Greg’s mother) painstakingly planned our Villa with hopes of making our guests as comfortable as possible during their stay!

Each of our suites is “smoke-free”, “pet-free”, and “scent-free”.  Each of the rooms has stainless steel appliances and all of the facilities of a home away from home!  Each one is furnished with antique style furnishings, replicas of the “early Newfoundland” era, delicately hand-crafted of local yellow birch, by local Artisan, Tony Hunt.

Our pencil-post beds are very typical of an “early Newfoundland” setting; the tables and chairs, replicas of those of yesteryear, have been meticulously crafted. Please note the “sea gull” etching on the back of each chair! The matching little night tables, TV stands and fishing boxes, all add that finishing touch!

Tony has also crafted our bathroom vanities to resemble, as closely as possible, the antique washstands, which held the “old” jug and basin ensemble of the earlier years.

Each suite also has an antique-style rocking chair, also handcrafted of local yellow birch, by another local Artisan, Francis Lane, who paid careful attention to intricate detail, to provide optimum comfort.  The back panel of each rocker has an original, wood burned etching of an island scene.

Our cupboards, trims, and stair railings, were locally crafted by Central Cabinets of Brown’s Arm.

Our Front desk, located in our office, was crafted by another local artisan, Don Elliott, of Embree.

Most of the photography, adorning our walls, was prepared by local photographer, Tom Brett-capturing the natural beauty and scenic wonders of our islands and vicinity.  Other selections of photography and artwork have been interspersed to give you, our guests, a variety of the talent and beauty which our area has to offer.

We have endeavored to make your stay – “One to remember”, by offering the ultimate in sleep experience. We have chosen King and Queen sized posturepedic, Sealy mattresses, covered with very high end covers for total cleanliness. The crisp, 400 thread count sheets, coupled with our hypo-allergenic micro-lux pillows, promise to add to your comfort. Please note that we have chosen the very high end, 3-in-1, sheeting experience to help you remember your stay at Islands’ Villa.

In each washroom, we have placed cozy, terry-lined, waffle-weave, plush bathrobes for added comfort. The latest, high end, Aromae amenities have been chosen for your use. A corner tub or soaker tub, plus a shower are also added for your comfort.

Adding to the décor, are the breath-taking, one of a kind, quilted bed scarves and matching cushions so diligently hand stitched by local seamstress, Pearl Sheppard.  All bed coverings and matching draperies have been chosen with you, our guests, in mind-giving you’re the very best in comfort and privacy.

Lobster trap replicas, both inside and out, have been tirelessly hand made for us by local residents. Placed in the closet of each room, for “kids” and “adults” of all ages is an assortment of wooden games designed and hand made by local resident George Aucoin, of Aucoin’s Woodcrafts. Cribbage boards and horseshoes may be borrowed from the office.

A wharf is present for you to use, at your own risk.  Fire pits have been placed for your enjoyment and a Gazebo has been built overlooking our world-class Marina, complete with a propane barbeque and picnic table. The wharf, fire pits, gazebo, and picnic table were built by local resident Ross Winsor.
